Message from the family of Miyagi Anichi Sensei

The 6th World Budosai was dedicated to the everlasting memory of Miyagi Anichi Sensei – Goju-ryu 2nd generation successor. As well as the Budosai event, Higaonna Sensei chartered a special trip to the gravesite of his teacher so senior IOGKF members around the world could pay their respects. Now the family of Miyagi Sensei responds…

Hello everybody,

It is now a beautiful season in Okinawa with a shining blue sky and ocean.

I am happy that the World Budosai was hosted at such a beautiful time.

I appreciate from the bottom of my heart that you commemorated the 3rd year since my late husband, An’ichi Miyagi, passed away.

I was so happy to see many karate practitioners from around the world gathered in Naha, the birth place of Goju-ryu. I am pleased that the event was a great success.

I wish for the continued prosperity of the IOGKF and for the further improvement of all its members.

It has been three years since my husband passed away. There is one thing which has been bothering me during these three years. When my husband passed away, I received so many messages of condolences and encouragement from IOGKF members all over the world.I am sorry that I did not have a chance to thank you for these messages.I would like to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness and compassion.

I also want to thank you all for visiting his cemetery, which is very far from Naha city.

I would especially like to thank Higaonna Sensei for his kindness in asking Sakiyama Roshi at Kozenji temple to give my late husband a posthumous Buddhist name, Anzenin Butoku Ippo Kyoshi. He must be very pleased with his name in heaven.

Thank you for everything,

July 2012

Toyoko Miyagi
