Guest instructors assisting Higaonna Sensei will include Sensei Bakkies Laubscher, Sensei Tetsuji Nakamura, Sensei Ernie Molyneux and Gasshuku host Sensei Jorge Monterio – Just to name a few. The Gasshuku is predicted to be one of the most largely attended in European Gasshuku history and this preview article covers everything from the training timetable through to registering for the event.

Official Invitation from Portugal Chief Instructor: Sensei Jorge Monterio

On behalf of the IOGKF-Portugal/APOGK I would like to invite all of the IOGKF family for the 27th European Gasshuku.

This is the fourth European Gasshuku in our country; the last one was in 2002.

This time it will be held in Maia’s town - Portugal. Maia city is known for supporting all sports, and it is close to Porto City.

This is a unique opportunity to practise with the Great Master Chief Instructor of the IOGKF, Shihan Morio Higaonna – Okinawan Goju-ryu 10th Dan.

This event will also be attended by many of the senior instructors of IOGKF.

It will be a great opportunity to see and spend time with all the IOGKF family.

You will also be able to make a family vacation in Portugal, while your hard training waits for you.

Our country provides you with a lot of interesting places not only in Maia but also in neighboured towns. You can visit the Port wine cellars by the Douro river, numerous monuments and all the historical city of Porto.

The contemporary art museum - Serralves Museum, Casa da Música, Palácio da Bolsa are just some of the ex-libris of Porto.

Beyond all this cultural activity you can also spend a good time in our beaches (July is hot weather) and taste the traditional Portuguese food in our great restaurants that this area has to offer.

Hope to see you all here.

Jorge Monteiro
Portugal Chief Instructor
